Our Inclusion Department supports Students of Determination through a graduated approach to provision, beginning with high-quality classroom teaching and targeted support before considering more individualized interventions where needed.Our focus is on identifying and reducing barriers to learning, enabling students to access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve their full potential.

How we support
Tailored to every learner
Support is tailored to each student’s individual strengths and needs and may include differentiated classroom instruction, in-class support, small-group interventions, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and a range of scaffolds and accommodations.These may include visual supports, graphic organizers, adapted resources, assistive technology, task chunking, teacher modeling, and other strategies designed to help students access learning with increasing confidence and independence.

Inclusion Team
Progress, resilience, and belonging
Our experienced Inclusion Team works closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to monitor progress, review support plans, and ensure students make meaningful academic, social, and emotional progress.
Our aim is to empower every learner to overcome challenges, build resilience, participate successfully in all aspects of school life and most importantly feel like they belong.
Enrichment
Gifted and Talented: GEMS Genius
At AKIS, we believe that every child should be challenged to reach their highest potential. Through our GEMS Genius program, we identify and nurture students who demonstrate exceptional strengths, high potential, or advanced aptitude across a range of academic and creative areas.
Students are identified using a range of evidence, including classroom performance, assessment data, teacher observations and feedback from parents and students.
Once identified, students follow an Individual Challenge Pathway (ICP), which is reviewed regularly to ensure opportunities remain appropriately challenging and aligned with their interests and potential.
Our provision includes curriculum enrichment, higher-order thinking opportunities, inquiry-based learning, leadership experiences, competitions, and extension activities designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation. The program aims to inspire students to become confident, independent learners who embrace challenge and make meaningful contributions within and beyond the classroom.
